Application for Summer Vacation Residence 2012
Booking and Payment Procedures

Students who wish to apply for summer vacation residence in a University-administered hall in 2012 are requested to take note of the following:

  1. Current Hall Residents of Lady Ho Tung Hall, Lee Hysan Hall, Lee Shau Kee Hall, Morrison Hall, R.C. Lee Hall, Simon K.Y. Lee Hall, Starr Hall, Suen Chi Sun Hall, Swire Hall, University Hall and Wei Lun Hall
    1. Students will have the greatest chance of securing a place if they apply by April 9 (Monday) before 23:59 p.m. Online application form is available below. The permission to stay must be sought from the Warden.
    2. Successful applicants will have to pay the total cost of their period of residence. They will be given an 'Instruction for Payment of Summer Vacation Residence Charges for Undergraduate Halls' by the Hall Office and payment must be made either at the HSBC or the Bank of East Asia. The copy of payment proof has to be returned to the Hall Office by April 24 (Tuesday).
    3. Application for deferred payment of lodging charge will not be accepted and considered.
      iv. Refund of lodging charges would only be made if students apply to the Hall Office to withdraw/decline offer or shorten the vacation period by May 7 (Monday). However, a minimum of 14 days' lodging fee is non-refundable under all circumstances. Full lodging fee will be forfeited for applications submitted after the said date.
  2. Non-Current Hall Residents
    Hall places available in Lee Hysan Hall, R.C. Lee Hall, Simon K.Y. Lee Hall, Swire Hall, University Hall and Wei Lun Hall
    1. Students will have the greatest chance of securing a place if they apply by May 2 (Wednesday) before 5:00 p.m. Online application form is available below. The minimum period of stay is 14 consecutive days. The permission to stay must be sought from the Warden.
    2. Successful applicants will have to pay the total cost of their period of residence. They will be given an 'Instruction for Payment of Summer Vacation Residence Charges for Undergraduate Halls' by the Hall Office and payment must be made either at the HSBC or the Bank of East Asia. The copy of payment proof has to be returned to the Hall Office by May 16 (Wednesday).
    3. Application for deferred payment of lodging charge will not be entertained.
      Refund of lodging charges would only be made if students apply to the Hall Office to withdraw/decline offer or shorten the vacation period by May 23 (Wednesday). However, a minimum of 14 days' lodging fee is non-refundable under all circumstances. Full lodging fee will be forfeited for applications submitted after the said date.
General Guidelines for Application for Summer Vacation Residence
  1. If an applicant fails to meet any of the deadlines specified above, it will be assumed that he/she has withdrawn his/her application and the place will be offered to others.
  2. Any student who has secured a hall place in summer vacation residence should be the one to stay in the Hall and the hall place cannot be given to any other student. No one other than the student being offered the place and paying the lodging charge will be permitted to stay in the room/place.
  3. Each student should be ready to share a double-room (triple or quadruple room in University Hall) with another student of the same sex if and whenever it is necessary for the Hall Office to make such arrangement.
  4. Students graduating this summer are eligible to pay hall charge at the student rate till the expiry date of students status when they will cease to be students of this University. After that, they shall pay at the rate of $72 / $88.2 per day if permitted by the Warden to stay on in the Hall. They may NOT, however, stay after August 29.
  5. Current hall residents being re-admitted by the Hall for the coming residential year (2012–2013) may be permitted to stay on after August 29 and will be required to pay the necessary charge by the Hall at an appropriate time.
  6. The rates for summer vacation residence of 2012 are as follows:

    Students who are not continuing their studies in 2012–2013
    Local and non-local undergraduates $36.0 N/A before the expiry date of student status

    Local and non-local postgraduates $44.1 N/A before the expiry date of student status

    [2]For each period quoted above, the final date is the day of departure and the check out time is before 12:00 noon. $100 per day will be charged for late check out, in addition to the lodging charge.
    [3]Students who are accepted as full time students for 2012 / 2013 could apply to the hall for refund of the fees overcharged.
